FibonacciGolf is a scorekeeper for a friendly golf side-bet. We built it to be
private by default: there are no third-party analytics, no advertising, no trackers, and no
data brokers. We don't sell your data, and we don't have our own servers collecting it —
your information lives on your device and in your Apple iCloud.
Who we are
FibonacciGolf ("the app", "we") is an independent iPhone app. Questions about this policy or
your data can go to [email protected].
What we collect, and why
Your identity (Sign in with Apple). If you sign in, Apple provides your name, email,
and a stable Apple user ID. We use these to identify you to friends and to label your profile.
If you use Apple's "Hide My Email," we only ever see the private relay address.
Your profile. A display name, optional email, optional motto, and an optional photo
you choose. Stored on your device and, when you use friends, in iCloud (see below).
Rounds. The games you score — players, buy-ins, hole results — are stored locally on
your device. They are not uploaded anywhere unless you choose to share a game or a round (below).
Friends. When you sign in and use the Friends feature, your name, email, Apple user ID,
and a friend code are published to a shared directory so friends can find you by email and connect.
Friend connections are stored as links between two user IDs.
Notifications. If you enable them, the app posts local "who won the hole" alerts and, for
shared games, receives Apple push notifications to keep the group in sync.
We do not collect location, contacts, health data, device identifiers for tracking,
or any analytics about how you use the app.
Where your data is stored
FibonacciGolf uses Apple iCloud / CloudKit — Apple's infrastructure — for the optional
friends and shared-game features. We do not operate our own servers and do not receive a copy of your
data on any system we control. Data handled by iCloud is subject to
Apple's Privacy Policy.
A note on the friends directory. So that a friend can find you by email, the friends feature
stores your name, email, and Apple user ID in a public CloudKit database that other people who
use the app can query by exact email address. If you'd rather not be discoverable, simply don't sign
in or use Friends — single-player scoring needs none of it.
Sharing a round or an invite
When you share a round or a friend invite, the relevant data (the round's results, or your name and
friend code) is encoded into a link that you send through your own messaging app. Whoever you send it to
receives that information. We don't see or store these links.
How your information is used
Only to make the app's features work — identifying you to friends, syncing a shared game, and showing
your profile. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or tracking across apps or websites.
Deleting your data
You're in control:
Delete account (in app): Profile → Delete account removes your directory entry and
friend connections from iCloud and resets your profile on the device.
Sign out disconnects your Apple identity on the device while keeping your saved rounds.
Rounds can be deleted individually (they move to a Trash that auto-empties after 14 days).
You can also revoke the app's access under Settings → your name → Sign in with Apple, and
manage app data in Settings → iCloud.
Data retention
We keep data only while you use the app. Deleting your account removes your directory entry and friend
links; uninstalling the app removes locally stored rounds and profile from the device.
Children
FibonacciGolf is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. It involves
tracking friendly wagers between players (the app never processes money), and is best suited to adults.
Security
Data synced with iCloud travels over encrypted connections and is protected by Apple's CloudKit
security. On-device data is protected by iOS.
